Personally, I don't use the 'oval-method' when I draw faces of any view. I start away with the hair, then the
face, including the eyes and some details, and then complete the hair and draw the body. Though I don't get the perfect or
desired results always.

Drawing the face from a back angle has no rule, and I don't think that
it can be drawn by the 'oval-method' either 0_o
I think that you only have to imagine how it would be, and then draw it, starting from the hair. Here are two examples:

As I have said, the face and its contents are used to express the characters' feelings and expression. Good control
and understanding of the eyes are the most important factor. You will learn more about the eyes in 'the eyes' tutorial, but here
are various facial expressions that are used in anime.
