Eyes:
 » Aya Mikage:

Although Yuu Watase's style of drawing eyes seems simple, I have some difficulty drawing those kinds of eyes. But since I have a huge gallery of AnC, then I decided to give it a try, and I think that the result turned out pretty good =P

Now, Aya's face is going to be tilted to the right, so her right eye's going to be the main one. See the picture for a reference. It's really better that you start drawing the face and the hair before the eyes. Draw the guidelines for the eyes as well, it's going to be a great help. Follow the steps to draw Aya's eyes:

  1. Start by drawing the upper lid/lashes of the right eye. It's a wide curve upwards, as you can see.

  2. Starting from the end of Aya's lashes, draw her lower lid/lashes; it's not a straight line, but rather a curve as well. I've put some guidelines to help you where to start every line.

  3. Now draw the iris. Aya's iris is a circle, and has one large main glimmer and black shadows, but make sure to make a white area that would be violet in color.

  4. Now you only have to draw her left eye. The eyelid would be shorter due to her tilted face, but they both will have the same edgy-lashes. Click on the picture above to see a complete sketch of Aya's face with those eyes! =P

 » Hitomi Kanzaki:

Hitomi's eyes are really unique (actually, every character has a unique eye-style in every series 0_o); they are long, simple, but they have depth and reveal all her emotions. I really love those eyes of hers XD. I don't know the details of her eyes, but the outlines are really simple.
Again, draw the whole face first, including the hair. I'm not going to tell you how to draw all of this cuz this is an eye tutorial. Click on the picture to the right to see her face. Hitomi's upper lids are a thick, almost straight line, just bent down a little at both ends, and unlike Aya, she has a number of visible lashes.

For the lower lid/lashes, draw another thinner line that has almost the same length of the first one, and make it curve downward. Keep in mind that Hitomi's eyes are pretty long. Her eyes are really simple; once you imagine how they look like, how they are in her face, you'll be able to draw them easily.
Click for a bigger sketch.

Draw the iris; a tall, oval one. One of the glimmers should be partly out of the iris (dunno why, but that's how her eyes are 0_o). Then draw the oval, dark pupil under the glimmers.

Use the same way to draw the other eye, but this time it's going to be a little bit bigger, due to the face's position. Also, the end near Hitomi's ear should be a little stroked, because there's no nose to cover part of the eye.
I completed the whole face, and though she doesn't really look like Hitomi, I think she has some of her characteristics XD.

 » Madoka Ayukawa:

Madoka's eyes, in general, have the form you see on the right; the eye closer to you has a narrower area (height, in particular). However, this section covers the non-anime style of this character only. Something like this one. Try to do her hair and face before you start with the eyes, but if you only want to practice the eyes, then it's your choice =)

There's not much to explain about this; the pic explains everything...I guess. But anywayz, I started with her left eye to have full control on it, and then draw the other one according to this eye. The red lines indicate the path that I followed for drawing the upper and lower lids/lashes. Click on the picture to see the full sketch of the face.

Put the iris which is a circle. Note that the 'shadowed' area in Madoka's eyes take almost half of it, and is barley detailed. Now draw the second eye. It is much 'rounder' than the first one (that's closer to you) - this is a distinctive quality of Akemi Takada (?), the artist of KoR's art. Add eyelashes and eyebrows.

Draw the iris for the other eye you've just done. Be careful where you place the glimmers; they have to be placed according to the light source.
I've been trying to draw Madoka's eyes for ages...and I proudly admit that THIS is the FIRST attempt where I draw them right ;_; Hope this section helped you learn how to draw them in an easy and quick way...so you won't need to take the time it took me >_<

Examples from the artist who makes the tutorial are available in almost every tutorial-based website, and now I'm going to offer you some of the examples that I've done at school...but, these are from no artist, they're only poor, quick sketches XD. Enjoy!

That's it for the eye tutorial! Hope you learned something from my jabber, and hope you use all what you learn from these tutorials and combine them together to make your own cute characters XD
